A safe place to heal
My main specialty is working with children, and I have a lot of experience with children and teens aged 13-18. My work involves supporting young people in their mental health, behavior, and emotional well-being. I have also worked with young people who are at risk for self-harm and / or suicidal behavior. I have worked as a school counselor in Kuwait and Qatar and have experience working in both the public and private sectors. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which treats children and adolescents with disabilities such as depression, anxiety, social phobia, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (ODD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). ), Eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I use focus and integrated approaches based on what is most beneficial to the customer. I have worked with children who have had or have been homeless, or who have had parents who have had or have been homeless, who have had sexual abuse, or have had all sorts of difficulties with schooling, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), long-term conditions (Multiple Scoliosis (MS)), and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).
For each client, i perform an individual assessment. I offer sessions with the child and the parents together or separately and will also communicate with schools when required to gather all relevant information. I communicate with the parents regularly with regards to the child’s progress. I can coordinate school visits in order to check the child’s presentation in academic settings and keeps close communication with other health care professionals that participated in the treatment of the child.
During my sessions with children, i work targeting specific treatment areas using cognitive behavioural interventions. I also included token economy programs reinforced by the child’s parents and teachers and game therapy. When working with older children i will sometimes, if necessary, use deeper approaches such as CBT therapy with hypnotherapy to offer an adolescent insight to help promote change.
I have previous experience working as a teacher, tutor and counseler with children. i have often worked with families where the children have special needs. I have tutored teenagers. In order to assist them in the best way possible, i employed techniques in order to help them improve their organisational skills. For children to grasp concepts efficiently and effectively, i employed hands-on activities in order to enhance their cognitive skills and help them learn concepts via different stimulating means.
I have extensive experience working with adults, individuals, couples and families. For adolescents and adults, I change CBT interventions and strategies when conducting sessions with diagnosed patients. Fear, Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Overeating, Bulimia), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD) When working with teens, I also work on decision-making processes to help them choose a professional career path that they like.
